I missed the inaugural run last year. I had found out about it the night before, and all I could think of was “How did I miss this”? I am so glad that they brought back this year, I get to run a race in my home city.
Parking was easy, and the structure was across the street from the start/finish line. They also validated parking and it was free from 6:30am until 11am. They had packet pickup on race day, so I picked up my packet on race day. It was an easy pickup and well organized. People were dressed up like film characters. I saw people dressed up like the Minions, Aladdin and Raja, Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz, but my favorite was Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice. I had to get a picture. Beetlejuice was my all time favorite movie growing up. Out on the course, Ecto-1 was out with the Ghostbusters. It was amazing to see people’s creativity when dressing up.
The course was great. It was a quiet run through downtown Culver City; we ran past The Culver Hotel and Sony Pictures. I got a little sad that we cant run through Sony Pictures, specifically running under the rainbow. That would be incredible. We did, however, run through Culver Studios. They had two of the sound stages open and we could look inside while we ran past. It was a sight to see.
This was the most peaceful, quietest 5k I’ve ever ran. I loved it. The medal is incredible and did not disappoint. My son wants to do this race again. next year, and I do too.
